MUWEKMA OHLONE AND THE HUNTERS POINT SHIPYARD

Most San Franciscans understand the injustice meted out to the First People of San Francisco the Muwekma Ohlone.

At one time there were two large hills much like the Bayview Hill where now stands the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The Muwekma Ohlone respected these two hills, as these were Shellmounds. Shellmounds are Sacred Burial Grounds of the Ohlone.

I have repeatedly reminded the Navy and the City and County of San Francisco who are most biased and racist Whites why one square inch of the Hunters Point Shipyard has NOT been archeologically surveyed. I suppose those who want to develop the Hunters Point Shipyard will have some consideration for the First People - the Muwekma Ohlone.

Those who are in power must fully understand and remember that the land that is all of San Francisco once belonged to the Ohlone. These folks must also remember that the land was stolen from the First People and that this is a crime. A crime crying to heaven for justice.

In 1991 the Muwekma Ohlone exercised their Right of First Refusal. I am asking Marcia Rosen, Jesse Blout, Michael Cohen, Gavin Newsom, the Secretary of the Navy, the Representatives who do not represent the people in the Senate and Congress to address the issues of the Right of First Refusal addressed to the Navy and to the City and County of San Francisco.

It is a shame in this day and age we have City, State, and Federal authorities that are ignorant and arrogant. Today it seems all that matters is money and greed.

At the next Restoration Advisory Board I will once again pose this question. If it is not answered I will see that the authorities concerned will answer it before the Court of Law.
